John Fernström



Swedish composer John Fernström (1897-1961). Born in China, son of the Swedish missionary Axel Fernström and his wife Klara. Studied composition in Copenhagen 1923-1930. From 1948 to 1961 Director of the Conservatory in Lund and the Lund Symphony Orchestra. In 1951 Fernström founded the Nordic Youth Orchestra. 1953 elected member of the Sweidsh Royal Music Academy.
