Toivo Kuula

Finnish composer Toivo Kuula (1883-1918) was a popular composer of vocal music, called the 'Tragic Romantic in Finnish music'. Also conductor of various Finnish orchestras. Kuula let himself be inspired spontaneously to his settings by individual poems. Usually they deal with love, and how nature influences man, and how its manifestations symbolize the phases of life.
