Ingar Bergby



Norwegian conductor Ingar Bergby (born 1964), principal guest conductor of the BIT 20 ensemble and regular guest conductor with responsibility for Scandinavian repertoire with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra. He was director of the Värmland Opera in Karlstad, Sweden and conductor of the orchestra there for seven years. He studied conducting with Karsten Andersen in Norway and Jorma Panula in Helsinki. He was principal conductor of the BIT 20 ensemble which was invited to music festivals throughout Europe and which was responsible for premièring numerous new scores. Ingar Bergby has been principal conductor of Opera Vest in Bergen, and has conducted the leading orchestras in Norway and Sweden including the Oslo Philharmonic, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the orchestra of the Gothenburg Opera, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra. Ingar Bergby has regularly guest-conducted the Royal Norwegian Navy Band for more than ten years.
