Allegro giocoso

ComposerBartók, Béla
ViolinOstertag, Christian

First performed in its original form in 1958, after the death of Stefi Geyer, a violinist for whom the concerto was written but who, in a letter to Bartók in 1908, wrote that she wished to have no more to do with him, because he was so 'godless'.
Fono Forum: outstanding; Gramophone, International Record Review, Classics Today France: recommended.
