The great painters have always known how to combine the different perspectives of the Nativity into a single picture. Here the RIAS Kammerchor tells the Christmas Story in music: Mendelssohn frames the painting, to which the darkness and the promise of promise of heavenly light form the background. The Virgin Mary leads us to the heart of Christmas Night and to rejoicing at the Saviour’s birth. We come full circle with the Four Motets of Poulenc, which sum up all the facets of Christmas and its emotions.
Les grands peintres ont su très vite tirer parti des perspectives que l'histoire de la Nativité pouvait offrir à leur imagination. Ce programme du RIAS Kammerchor raconte la même histoire en musique : au bord du tableau, la musique de Mendelssohn se libère de l'obscurité dans la promesse de la lumière divine. Die großen Maler haben es schon immer verstanden, die verschiedenen Perspektiven der Weihnachtsgeschichte in einer Bildidee zu vereinen. Der RIAS Kammerchor erzählt ein solches Programm mit musikalischen Mitteln: Mendelssohn bildet den Rahmen des Gemäldes, auf dem das Dunkel und die Verheißung des himmlischen Lichts den Hintergrund abgeben. Maria führt uns ins Zentrum der Christnacht, die im Jubel über die Geburt des Erlösers endet. Den Kreis schließen vier Motetten von Poulenc, die die Summe all jener Aspekte, Emotionen und Facetten in sich vereinen.
