Thomas Georgi

American viola d'amore-player Thomas Georgi. After studies at Cornell University and the State University of New York at Stony Brook, Georgi moved to Australia to take up a position with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. While a resident of Brisbane he developed an interest in early music, founding the Badinerie Players. Since his return to North America to join the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, he has specialized in the viola d'amore, performing solos on that instrument with Tafelmusik across North America, in Japan, in europé and in Australia. He has presented lecture demos on the history and repertoire of the viola d'amore in the United States, in Canada and in Australia.
"That Thomas Georgi is a born musician; there can be no doubt. His interpretative skills are as palpitating as the sympathetic strings of his chosen instrument, the viola d'amore. Indeed what is needed is that this wonderful instrument should be heard!" Music and Vision, May 2002.
