Cristóbal Halffter



Spanish composer Cristóbal Halffter (b. 1930) was born into a musical family of German origins. After the civil war he studied at the German College in Madrid and subsequently with Conrado del Campo at the Concervatory. Awarded the National Music Prize in 1953 and received a UNESCO award in 1956. In 1989 principal guest conductor of the Spanish National Orchestra. Professor of Composition at the Royal Conservatory of Madrid.
