Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos



In addition to performing the central European classical and romantic repertoire, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos (b. 1933) takes a special interest in promoting Spanish music. In 1994, the philosphy faculty of the University of Navarra conferred an honorary doctorate on him, and in 1998 the university of his home town, Burgos, followed suite. Frühbeck de Burgos has received numerous awards for his services to the art and culture of Austria. The Queen of Spain presented him with Spain's foremost music award, the Jacinto Guerrero Prize, in 1997. From the 2012/2013 season Creative Director of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra's Masterworks series of concerts, as well as Principal conductor of the Danish National Symphony orchestra.
