German Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra. Following the example of the American Tanglewood Festival, Leonard Bernstein created an education center for top-level young orchestra musicians in Germany in 1987. The Orchestral Academy of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival is based in the state cultural center of Salzau Castle. Each summer an international youth orchestra , the Festival Orchestra, is brought together for the Orchestral Academy. More than 100 young musicians from all over the world are offered an opportunity to work with famous conductors and perform great orchestra literature.
