Giovanni Gabrieli

Italian composer Giovanni Gabrieli (1557-1612).
He lived in Venice at a time when Venice was the musical capital of the world. The important position of the church made demands on sacred music and the music of the Venetian school is accordingsly as rich in texture as the papal robes themselves. Nowhere is this lavishness more apparent than in the many canzonas of Giovanni Gabrieli.
