Marcello Viotti



Italian conductor Marcello Viotti (1954-2005). Studied piano, voice and cello in Lausanne and made his debut as a conductor in Geneva. After winning first prize in the Gino Marinuzzi Competition (1982) he became a conductor at the opera in Turin, followed by appointments in Lucerne, Bremen, Saarbrücken and Leipzig. From 1998 Chief Conductor of the Munich Radio Orchestra, and Direttore Musicale of the Gran Theatro La Fenice in Venice in 2002.
