Canon à 4 per Augmentationem et Diminutionem

A coincidence led to the discovery of Bach's hand copy of the original fourth part of the Clavierübung, the Goldberg Variations BWV988 from 1742. The annex of this copy concealed an independent - with the exeption of two canons - hitherto unknown cycle of the composer: 'Various canons on the first eight fundamental notes of the previous aria'. Most of the musicians featured in this recording are members of the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and/or of the FBO-Consort.
