As the title of her new disc British Promenade suggests it, the harpist Sandrine Chatron takes us on a musical wandering in the early 20th England. Along the journey, we meet little known artists, such as Herbert Howells or Cyril Scott, but also the famous Benjamin Britten. Their scores for harp carry us to England, among coastal views and bucolic landscapes. The lyricism of Ophélie Gaillard's cello and the warmth of Michael Bennett's tenor voice enhance the evocative power of the music and complete the pointillist qualities of the harp.
Comme le titre de son nouveau disque A British Promenade l'indique, la harpiste Sandrine Chatron nous propose une flânerie musicale dans l'Angleterre du début du XXe siècle. On y croise des compositeurs rares, comme Herbert Howells ou Cyril Scott, mais aussi Benjamin Britten. Les pages qu'ils composèrent pour la harpe nous transportent dans les paysages côtiers ou plus champêtres de nos voisins anglais. Leurs évocations sont également déclinées par le lyrisme du violoncelle d'Ophélie Gaillard et la chaleur de la voix du ténor Michael Bennett qui viennent enrichir la palette sonore de l'époque en faisant contrepoint à l'expression plus pointilliste de la harpe.
