Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel
Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach
German composer Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach (1714-1788).
He was the second son of J.S. Bach. Recognized as one of the greatest harpsichordist of his time. The keyboard concerto was the invention of his father, but the form really took off in the hands of C.P.E. Bach. In 1755 he published his Essay on the true art of playing keyboard intruments. He composed more than 60 concertos. C.P.E. Bach was a superb composer in his own right with a highly emotional, vibrant style.
