Charles Avison

English composer Charles Avison (1709-1770).
He spent his entire life in Newcastle - in spite of job offers in York, Dublin, Edinburgh and London. Avison was very active in all aspects of musical life: organist in two churches, director of a series of subscription concerts, and a dedicated teacher of harpsichord, violin and flute.
