Jean-Baptiste Krumpholtz



Bohemian composer Jean-Baptiste Krumpholtz (c.1745-1790).
Foremost among classical composers for the harp. From 1773 until 1776 his outstanding abilities on the harp earned him a position in Prince Esterházy's orchestra in Vienna, and during this period he also received musical instruction from Joseph Haydn. In addition to his reputation as a performer, Krumpholz was responsible for several physical improvements to the harp and for numerous compositions for the instrument.
