Våren är kommen - Traditional Swedish Songs of Spring and Summer
Few musical traditions capture the Swedish welcome to the light half of the year as warmly as these songs of spring and summer. The programme gathers cherished part-songs and serenades by composers such as Prins Gustaf, Otto Lindblad, Emil Sjögren and Friedrich Kuhlau, alongside student songs and folk melodies including the timeless Kristallen den fina. Woven into Swedish choral and student singing since the nineteenth century, they glow with longing for warmer days. They are performed here by the Uppsala Chamber Choir, joined by baritone Olle Persson and pianist Folke Alin, in a recital of great charm and seasonal delight.
