Busoni, Ferruccio
German-Italian composer, pianist, music teacher and conductor Ferruccio (Dante, Michelangelo, Benvenuto) Busoni (1866-1924). In 1894 he settled in Berlin. During World War I he lived in Bologna and Zürich, and died in Berlin. For Busoni the concept of freedom, which from a formal standpoint is embodied especially well by the fantasia, was a central motif of his musical thought.
