Couperin, François
French composer Francois Couperin (1668-1733), known as 'Le grand', was the most distinguished of a numerous family of French musicians. He enjoyed royal patronage under Louis XIV and in 1693 he was appointed royal organist and later royal harpsichordist. The central figure of the French harpsichord school.
