Dutilleux, Henri
French composer Henri Dutilleux (b1916).
One of the most important French composers of the second half of the 20th century. He follows the traditions of Ravel and Debussy, but is individual in his approach. Dutilleux's output is relatively small, yet its high quality and originality has won high praise. In his multi-faceted music he tried to explore 'a whole world that is distant, absent, almost defunct' (motto by Baudelaire).
