Eisler, Hanns
German composer Hanns Eisler (1898-1962). Studied with Schoenberg, teacher in Berlin. Fleeing from Nazi Germany, he went to the USA together with Brecht. After the Second World War Eisler was accused of being 'the Karl Marx of Music' and returned to East Berlin, where he, among other works, also wrote th East German National Anthem.
