Russian composer Victor Evald (Ewald) (1860-1935). Born in St. Petersburg and spent virually all his life in his native city. Worked as a professor at the St. Petersburg Technical College from 1895 until 1915. Music filled a large part of his leisure time. Evald composed frequently and with enthusiasm, and he wrote principally chamber music. Stylistically he was close to the composers of the 'Mighty Handful', but he was also influenced by other composers at the 'Fridays' such as Glazunov and Liadov.
