Geminiani, Francesco
Italian composer Francesco Geminiani (1687-1762). Overshadowed by his teacher Corelli and his contemporaries Vivaldi and Handel, Geminiani is nonetheless one of the greatest composers of the baroque era. In 1714 he made his way from Italy to London. He wrote several imnportant theoretical treatises, including the influential 'The Art of Playing the Violin' (1751).
