Holst, Gustav
British composer Gustav Holst (1874-1934). His biography, which was affected by few external events, offers rich and varied comment on supposedly peripheral phenomena of the time. Holst led a musician's double life; the son of a musical family, born on September 21, 1874 in Cheltenham, he studied at the Royal College of Music and then went on to teach music at various schools and institutes in London. He was only able to compose during his free time and as a result, his oeuvre is not extensive.
