Lourié, Arthur Vincent
Russian composer Arthur Vincent Lourié (1892-1966). He became a champion of musical cubism, then of the 'New Simplicity', before being attracted to Stravinsky. Commissioner of music in the first Soviet government, defected to the West in 1921, and settled in the USA in 1941.
