Mozart, Franz Xaver
Austrian composer Franz Xaver Mozart (1791-1844).
The sixth child of W.A. Mozart and the younger of his two surviving sons. He received a very fine musical education. One of his teachers was Antonio Salieri. Throughout his life Franz Xaver lived under a great burden - the name which weighed so heavily in musical circles and placed him under such heavy obligations. In 1810 he became a piano teacher and choir conductor in the Ukrainian city of Lvov, where he ultimately became Kapellmeister at the Lvov theatre. He settled in Vienna in 1838.
