Finnish composer Uljas Pulkkis (b. 1975) emerged in the late 1990s, his breakthrough fuelled by his success in composition competitions in Finland and abroad. Although Pulkkis has written music in a variety of genres, including vocal music, chamber music and solo works, it is his orchestral works and concertos that constitute the most conspicuous part of his catalogue. Pulkkis is a prolific composer with a dozen orchestral works under his belt to date.
