Reinecke, Carl
German composer Carl Reinecke (1824-1910).
He belongs to the large number of romantic composers who have quite undeservedly fallen into semi-oblivion. After studies in Leipzig he became in 1846 court pianist to Christian VIII of Denmark. From 1848 onwards he worked in various capacities in Bremen, Paris, Cologne, Barmen and Breslau. In 1860 he became Kapellmeister at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig and held this post until 1895 when he was succeeded by Nikisch.
