Latvian composer Solomon Rosowsky (1878-1962), famous cantor and composer, son of the renowned cantor of Riga Baruch Leib Rosowsky. One of the organizers of the Society for Jewish Folk music in1908. In 1925 Solomon Rosowsky left for Palestine where the folk music became a major new inspiration for his compositions. Later he moved to New York where he taught at the Cantors' Institute of the Jewish Theological Seminary.
