Rossini, Gioachino
Italian composer Gioachino Rossini (1792-1868).
He occupied an unrivalled position in the Italian musical world of his time, winning considerable success relatively early in his career. His last opera was Guillaume Tell 1829 - then silence for many years. He left Paris for Italy, but after the return to Paris in 1855 he wrote pieces for piano and voices, including Petite Messe solenelle (1863).
