Saminsky, Lazare
Ukrainian composer Lazare Saminsky (1882-1959) was an influential member of the Society for Jewish Folk Music in St. Petersburg. Following the Revolution Saminsky left Russia, and after sojourns in Palestine, Paris and London he settled in the US. In 1924 he began a 34 year tenure as music director of the New York Temple Emanu-El.
