Taffanel, Paul
French flutist, conductor and composer Paul Taffanel (1844-1908), usually considered the founder of the modern French flute school. The 'Méthode complète de flûte' that he wrote in collaboration with his pupil Philippe Gaubert remains to this day one of the major tutors for every flutis. Taffanel became professor of flute at the Conservatoire 1893.
