Eschenbach, Christoph
German conductor Christoph Eschenbach (b.1940).
In 1981 he became Principal Guest Conductor of the Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich, and was Chief Conductor from 1982 until 1986. Then followed possitions as Music Director of the Houston Symphony 1988-1999, Chief Conductor of the German NDR Symphony Orchestra 1998-2004, Music Director of the Ravinia Festival 1994-2003 and Music Director of the Philadelphia Orchestra from 2003 until 2008. Since 2000, Eschenbach has been Music Director of the Orchestre de Paris, and since 2004 Principal Conductor of the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra.
