Järvi, Paavo
The son of Neeme Järvi, Grammy award-winning conductor Paavo Järvi's (born 1962) remarkable reputation makes him one of the most in-demand conductors on the international stage. Born in Tallinn, Estonia, he studied percussion and conducting at the Tallinn School of Music. In 1980 he moved to the US where he continued his studies at the Curtis Institute of Music and at the Los Angeles Philharmonic Institute, with Leonard Bernstein.
Järvi was appointed Music Director of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in 2001. Under his directorship the orchestra has toured throughout America - including Carnegie Hall - Europe and Japan.
