English conductor Simon Streatfeild (b. 1929), one of the founders of Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields. Went to Canada in 1965 as principal violist of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Between 1983 and 1991 conductor and music director of the Quebec Symphony Orchestra. Same position also with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra. In 1987 Streatfeild was awarded the medal of the Canadian Music Council.
