Aho - Symphony No.10
Catalog Number: BIS856
Gramophone: outstanding.
Kalevi Aho's "Symphony No. 10," composed in 1996, is a significant work in his musical career. It was inspired by a performance of Mozart's Symphony No. 39 by the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, which led Aho to explore rich string melodies and dramatic themes. The symphony features four movements, each offering a distinct emotional and musical landscape, from the lively "Allegro" to the intense "Adagio," culminating in a vibrant "Vivacissimo." The premiere was highly celebrated, receiving widespread attention and was broadcast live on Finnish radio and television.
