Beethoven - Sonatas: Pathétique, Moonlight and Appassionata

Beethoven - Sonatas: Pathétique, Moonlight and Appassionata
Freddy Kempf (b.1977) is one of the most gifted pianists of his generation, who came to prominence in 1992 as the youngest winner in the history of the BBC Young Musician of the Year Competition, and gained international recognition with third prize at the 1998 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition. This recital centres on Beethoven's Sonata in C# minor Op.27 No.2, the 'Moonlight' — described by Berlioz as 'one of those poems for which human language has no words'. Kempf brings to these sonatas a combination of expressive freedom and structural clarity that has defined his growing international career, heard in recitals at the Wigmore Hall, the 92nd Street Y in New York, the Salzburg Mozarteum and at festivals including Cheltenham and La Roque d'Anthéron.
