Härlig är Jorden (Glorious is the Earth) presents sixteen familiar hymns from the Swedish psalm book, arranged for string orchestra. These melodies have been sung through generations, carrying with them the full range of human experience — longing and joy, grief and consolation. The arrangements are by four Finnish-Swedish musicians: Herman Rechberger, Jaakko Kuusisto, Ilkka Kuusisto and Osmo Vänskä. The programme includes classic favourites such as 'Vår Gud är oss en väldig borg' (A Mighty Fortress), 'Tryggare kan ingen vara', 'Bred dina vida vingar' and 'Härlig är Jorden' itself. Recorded at Ristinkirkko (Church of the Cross), Lahti, Finland.
