Just for me - Noriko Ogawa plays Japanese Piano Music
Western art music reached Japan in the Meiji era, and Japanese composers of the 20th century developed a rich tradition that drew on both European technique and native melodic sensibility. 'Just for Me' presents Noriko Ogawa's personal selection of this repertoire, spanning from Rentarō Taki (1879–1903) — whose Menuetto and Grudge are among the earliest Japanese piano pieces — through Shukichi Mitsukuri's atmospheric Three Piano Pieces after the Flower and Tōru Sugawara's Steam, to the more recent works of Kunihiko Hashimoto, Kikuko Kanai, Fumio Hayasaka, Kiyoshige Koyama, Akio Yashiro and Yoshinao Nakata. Highlights include Mitsukuri's Sakura, Kanai's Ryūkyū Dances and Koyama's Kagome-Variations.
