Images of water, wind, blossoms, and seasonal change recur throughout, from the gentle flow and lyric grace of Haru no Umi to the concentrated stillness and eloquent pauses that define Takemitsu’s music. Elsewhere, children’s songs, ceremonial flowers, and rural memories are recalled with tenderness and restraint, their simplicity enriched by subtle harmonic inflection.
