An illuminating programme of violin music by composers from the Nordic and Balkan traditions, much of it rarely encountered in the concert hall. Bo Linde (1933–70), the Swedish composer who died at only 37, is represented by his Violin Sonata Op.10 (1953) — a three-movement work of considerable originality and lyrical warmth. Moses Pergament (1893–1977) contributes his substantial Chaconne for Solo Violin (1941). Bulgarian composer Peter Christoskov (b.1917) offers his Suite No.1 for Solo Violin Op.7, and Marin Goleminov (b.1908), one of Bulgaria's most significant musical figures, closes with his Little Suite for Solo Violin. Together they paint a vivid picture of musical life outside the standard repertoire. The pianist Carin Gille-Rybrant (b.1918) accompanies in the accompanied works.
