J. Strauss: Csardas from Ritter Pasman
Catalog Number: 900430
Marking 200 years since Johann Strauss II's birth, the Munich Radio Orchestra under Patrick Hahn paints a warm, witty portrait of the Waltz King — heard here in the exuberant Csardas from his opera Ritter Pásmán.
To mark the 200th anniversary of Johann Strauss II's birth, the Munich Radio Orchestra also dedicated a performance to the "Waltz King." The result was a musical portrait of the composer, humorous and imbued with a touch of Viennese charm, conducted by Patrick Hahn. The name Johann Strauss has lost none of its luster to this day, just like his golden monument in Vienna's Stadtpark, which depicts him as the world knows him: violin in hand, the radiant Waltz King. While this title was also bestowed upon his father, it is the son with whom it is most commonly associated today.
