Jeffrey Mumford's Eight Musings recasts fragments of his earlier chamber works for solo violin, and Stravinsky's Elegy and Weinberg's introspective Viola Sonata No. 2 - shaped by the composer's wartime losses - explore repetition and time from opposite emotional poles. The programme closes with Bach's Chaconne, whose single obsessively repeating harmonic progression becomes its own act of musical remembrance.
