They Have Waited Long Enough gives a voice to women silenced by history and myth. Conceived for the Wonderfeel Festival and created entirely by women, the cycle lets figures such as Medea and Penelope tell their side of the story. Soprano Katharine Dain joins the all-female Ragazze Quartet in five new works by Aftab Darvishi, Annelies Van Parys, Calliope Tsoupaki, Aida Shirazi and Saskia Venegas Aernouts, coloured by guest players on duduk, qanun, clarinet, kemenche and percussion. The result is a rich, urgent collage of songs whose historical subjects feel strikingly present.
