This Place
Catalog Number: CVI127
This Place brings together choral gems old and new – Howells, Shenandoah and McFerrin's 23rd Psalm alongside Reena Esmail, Jake Runestad and Galina Grigorjeva – performed by the Imperial College Chamber Choir under Patrick Allies.
On their second album, the Imperial College Chamber Choir explore the many meanings of home and belonging through a wide-ranging choral programme. The repertoire moves between folk-song arrangements and sacred classics – including music by Herbert Howells and the spiritual Shenandoah – and vivid contemporary writing by composers such as Reena Esmail, Jake Runestad, Derri Lewis and Galina Grigorjeva, alongside Bobby McFerrin's The 23rd Psalm. Formed of thirty undergraduate and postgraduate science and engineering students at Imperial College London, the choir has built a reputation as one of the capital's most accomplished student ensembles. Under conductor Patrick Allies, the recording was made at All Saints, Tooting, in June 2025, capturing the choir's blend of technical polish and expressive warmth across a richly varied programme.
