Horizons captures the electricity of live performance at the PAAX GNP Festival on Mexico's Riviera Maya, founded by conductor Alondra de la Parra. Leading The Impossible Orchestra, she presents three concertos by living Latin American composers, each played by its creator. Paquito D'Rivera's "The Journey" brings together clarinet, cello and erhu; Omar Massa's "Buenos Aires-Berlin" places the bandoneon centre stage; and Yamandu Costa and Sérgio Assad's Ilhas Concertantes spotlights the guitar. Spontaneous and richly coloured, the album is a celebration of contemporary music from across the Americas.
