We also wished to honour the composer of Pelléas as one of those creative artists who, long before Louis Armstrong and Bill Evans, had a determining influence on certain harmonic colours of jazz. Let us therefore salute the initiative of the appropriately named Quatuor Debussy, which, with the friendly collaboration of leading jazz personalities, has revisited the Préludes in its own way. And at the end of the work, what title would Debussy have inscribed? '… note bleue'? Un siècle après sa disparition le 25 mars 1918, de nombreux artistes harmonia mundi ont voulu rendre hommage à Claude Debussy, magicien de la mélodie et du timbre, grand "coloriste" et père de la musique moderne. Nous tenions aussi à honorer l'auteur de Pelléas parmi ces créateurs qui, bien avant Louis Armstrong et Bill Evans, ont influencé de façon décisive certaines couleurs du jazz. Saluons donc l'initiative du bien-nommé Quatuor Debussy qui, avec la complicité de grandes personnalités du jazz, a revisité les Préludes à sa manière. Et à la fin de l'ouvrage, quel titre Debussy aurait-il choisi : "…note bleue" ?
