Tango for string quartet, from the golden age of Buenos Aires to Piazzolla and beyond. The Ferrari String Quartet plays classics by Mariano Mores and Enrique Francini, Piazzolla's Oblivion and a world premiere by Bobbi Fischer.
The Ferrari String Quartet – Alban Beikircher, Salome Hänsler, Vera Beikircher and Michael Kevin Jones – pays tribute to the tango in all its forms. Six classics from the golden age, including Mariano Mores's Cafetín de Buenos Aires and La calesita and Enrique Francini's La vi llegar, are heard in arrangements by Werner Thomas-Mifune. Four works by Astor Piazzolla, among them Oblivion, Jeanne y Paul and La muerte del Ángel, come in arrangements by Matteo Del Soldà. The programme closes with two pieces by Bobbi Fischer: Britango and the first recording of Jeremiah's Farewell.
