Its famous opening, Le Cahos, with its bold dissonant cluster symbolising primordial disorder, takes on a visceral, almost contemporary force in this transcription. Through layered registers, harmonic tension and dense sonorities, Expressio Duo highlights the work’s astonishing modernity, bridging the aesthetic gap between the 18th century and the sound world of the 20th. The final section turns toward the Basque musical heritage with works by Aita Donostia and Jesús Guridi. Here, dance rhythms, impressionistic harmonies and folk-inspired melodies are transformed into intimate yet powerfully resonant statements.
