Water in all its moods is the thread running through this generous recital by mezzo-soprano Beth Taylor, one of today's most exciting young voices, and pianist Hamish Brown. Opening with Hamilton Harty's arrangement of My Lagan Love and Hedwige Chrétien's playful river miniatures Petits Poèmes du Bord de l'Eau, the programme moves through three contrasting Schubert sea songs, Alma Mahler-Werfel's Lobgesang and Ethel Smyth's atmospheric Three Moods of the Sea. At its centre is the world-premiere recording of The Breakers, a storm-and-stillness diptych written for the duo in 2025 by Cameron Biles-Liddell. The voyage ends with Elgar's beloved Sea Pictures and Harty's Sea Wrack.
